Basic users Access FAQ in Azure DevOps
1.Whether Basic users would be able to create and edit workitems like Bug, Feature,UserStory?
Answer :Yes they would be able to create and edit workitems. Delete access is provided if they are an administrator, otherwise they won’t be have any delete access.
2. Whether Basic users can add Tags to workitems?
Answer : Yes Basic users can add tags to any workitems like “Bug”,”Feature” and “UserStory”
3. Does a Basic user has access to queries?
Answer: Yes Basic users have access to create and edit queries. (Note: Only Project Administrators have access to create/edit/delete Shared queries)
4. Whether a Basic user has access to boards and backlogs?
Answer: Yes they do have access to boards and backlogs and by default they have access to create and edit workitems also.
5. Whether Basic user have access to set and receive their own notifications?
Answer: Yes they do have access to set their own notifications and also they can also customize it
6. Stakeholders and Agile tools?
Answer : Basic users have access to Agile tools like Kanban boards, portfolio management etc.,
7. Does Basic users have access to Repos?
Answer: Yes. They do have access to Repos. They can commit and push the files to any repo they have access to
8. Whether Basic user has create and edit Builds?
Answer: They do have access to create and edit builds provided they have proper admin privileges
9. Does a Basic user can initiate builds?
Answer: Yes Basic user can initiate builds and also have access to create builds provided they have proper permissions.
10. Can Basic can access Wikis?
Answer : Yes Basic users can read and contribute to wikis
11. Does a Basic user can create and edit Dashboards?
Answer: They have access to create and edit dashboards
12. Can a Basic user can access TestPlans?
Answer : Yes. A Basic user can access TestPlans but there some certain limitations like they won’t be able to add TestCases to Suites and they won’t be able to clone the TestPlans also.
13. Does a Basic user has access to execute TestCases?
Answer: Yes, Basic users have access to execute TestCases but they won’t have access to add TestCases to Suites or Clone the TestPlans
14. Whether a Basic user can clone the TestCases?
Answer: No, a Basic user won’t be able to clone the TestCases
15. Can a Basic user can create TestPlans?
Answer: No, Basic user won’t be able to create TestPlans.
16. Can a Basic user can Approve Releases?
Answer: Yes they can approve Releases and also can edit or create releases.
17. Whether a Basic user can create Releases?
Answer: Yes a Basic user will be able to create as well as edit/delete Releases
