User XXXX cannot be mentioned in Bug/Epic/Feature/Task/UserStory

Issue : Whenever you tag a particular person in the User Story or Bug or Epic or anyworkitem you may get an error as shown below stating that user ‘XXXXX’ cannot be mentioned in the Bug

Error: This error occurs when the user is not in the Azure DevOps Organization or not has been added to the Project

Solution

  • Check whether the user has been added to the Azure DevOps Organization
  • If the user has been added to the Azure DevOps Organization, then add the user to the Project

If the user has been added to the Project, then this kind of error wont occur. (This issue might also occur when you try to add a user who is not in Azure Active Directory & has left the organization)
